We are looking for a passionate BI Manager to join our dynamic and fast-paced team in the Tradus Amsterdam headquarters. You will be responsible for the technical implementation and scaling of the full Tradus data stack. Your role will report to the Head of Analytics.

Your first responsibility will be to lead the integration and ingestion of our raw data sources such as transactional platform data and clickstream data. You will direct the development of the Tradus data warehouse and own the implementation of all required operational data models. In addition, you will be responsible for implementing and operationalising a number of important data applications such as BI reporting, marketing automation, customer segmentation and content personalisation.

You will use state-of-the-art technology and tools, absorbing best practices from the OLX Ventures big data playbook. Your day-to-day development will take place in Amazon Redshift and the broader AWS ecosystem. As part of your role, you need to be an absolute SQL and data modelling rockstar. At a later stage, you will also be responsible for buliding and owning the Tradus real-time data stack which will be based on AWS services like Kinesis, Lambda and ElastiCache. Other tools under your ownership include Matillion ETL and Periscope Data.

The successful BI Manager will come from a strong quantitative background and be self-motivated to drive the Tradus technical data agenda. You will work closely with product, tech and business teams to identify, spec and deliver the required technical projects.

Over time, you will be responsible for growing ans scaling the Tradus data capability, and hiring & building your own team of data engineers.

What responsibilities will you get when working with us?

  • Build BI reporting and visualisation toolkit
  • Build offline and real-time data analytics stack
  • Design, build and maintain complex ETL workflows
  • Write world-class SQL
  • Monitor data stack and be responsible for system health
  • Work closely with Tradus product and tech teams on diverse data projects
  • Manage and guide stakeholders to unlock the value our data across the team
  • Later: Build serverless real-time data applications
  • Later: Recruit and manage team of data engineer(s)

What will you need to be successful in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering / Computer Science or related technical field from a leading university
  • 5+ years of experience transforming sizable data sets into world-class business intelligence solutions, preferably in an e-commerce environment
  • Highly advanced SQL skills (AWS Redshift preferred)
  • Strong experience with one or more programming languages (Python preferred)
  • General all-round tech person with an insatiable thirst to learn and a broad skill-set to deliver on such a diverse project (e.g. comfortable using technologies such as Git, Linux, AWS, Docker, NoSQL databases, APIs, etc.)
  • Good to have: Data visualization experience (Periscope Data preferred)
  • Good to have: Experience with serverless data stack (Lambda, Kinesis, API gateway)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think creatively; highly-driven and self-motivated
  • Comfortable with some ambiguity – we move fast and priorities will change
  • Ability to communicate insights and findings to a non-technical audience
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English
