We are looking for an experienced Head of Autos for OLX South Africa with a proven track record of success & impact in the Automobiles space in South Africa. This function will operate across all provinces in South Africa, to grow and monetise OLX's vehicles category. The work ranges from attracting and retaining private and high-volume Vehicle users to the platform; increasing the share of their content they add to OLX; finding innovative ways to ensure they have a steady flow of leads; and monetising these users, via value-added services or other creative means that add value to the user.

The ideal candidate will craft a national commercial strategy and own the execution for achieving revenue and category health goals.The candidate will also be responsible for budgeting, resourcing and managing channels to attract, retain and monetise Vehicle users on OLX. The candidate will be required to liaise very closely with the global product and tech teams, who develop products and solutions for the Vehicles category, in order to set a suitable strategic course, stay on track with execution and give feedback/ advice/ ideas on potential improvements and add-ons to the product, in order to add more value to our Vehicles users, in line with  revenue and category health goals.

The ideal candidate has a large body of knowledge on the inner workings of the Automotive space in South Africa; has strong commercial and sales skills; is creative, flexible and resourceful; has experience working with product and tech teams; and is results-oriented towards goals.

What responsibilities will you get when working with us? 

  • Craft a monetization and partnership strategy for vehicles;
  • Lay the foundation for a commercial operation;
  • Identify and close strategic partnerships;
  • Drive revenue growth and vibrancy of the vehicles category to strengthen our position;
  • Turn data into valuable insights to be used to develop the vehicles category;
  • Ensure smooth delivery of initiatives and spread the enthusiasm for vehicles category throughout the organization;
  • Analyse market and do research from various angles (buyers, sellers, financing partners etc.) to identify opportunities;
  • Translate market opportunities into product requirements;
  • Achieve revenue targets;
  • Initiate and/or implement campaigns to increase dealer yield and/or customer numbers quarterly.

What will you need to be successful in this role?

  • Diploma/Degree preferred
  • 5 (five) years’ experience in a high-performance sales environment
  • A proven track record of personal, academic and professional achievements in the online field
  • You are passionate about vehicles
  • Excellent structuring and analytical skills combined with a hands-on attitude
  • Well-developed storytelling and slide-writing skills
  • You are independent and flexible
  • Speed with quality is important to you
  • You are not afraid to challenge the status quo and eloquent in fact based discussions
  • You love collaborating with teams
  • You have strong analytical (MS Excel) skills and a data driven approach to scrutinize metrics
  • You have a broad perspective to problems and spots new, less obvious solutions
