OLX is the leading online classifieds company that is used in more than 96 countries worldwide. It operates the leading classifieds platforms in Brazil and India and continues to enter promising markets. OLX is majority-owned by Naspers, the leading multinational of eCommerce and media companies. For Naspers, LATAM is a focus market to win and OLX is the key classifieds platform to make that happen.
About online classifieds:
Online classifieds provide a ‘democratized’ consumer-to-consumer (C2C) trading platform for used goods. This is a winner-takes-all business, hence aggressively growing market share is vital for winning and securing the market. At large scale, classifieds platforms provide a means of massive revenue generation. As most developed markets in the US and Europe have already attained high classifieds maturity and consolidation, the focus for OLX is on the emerging economies. For Naspers, LATAM contains key growth markets such as Brazil, Argentina and Colombia.
LATAM means business
The opportunity for classifieds in LATAM is huge. Only a small number of global players are involved in a war for market leadership. Very large sums are invested in marketing to attract customers and to build the largest brand, making this market a big-boys’ game. Argentina is one the most attractive markets on the continent due to its rapidly growing economy, which goes hand-in-hand with growth in internet usage and mobile penetration.
Why we do what we do
We improve people’s lives by bringing them together for win-win exchanges.
